17 prominent private companies from Yunnan Province have pledged to explore Cambodia’s emerging tourist destinations, promote joint marketing activities, organize collaborative events, and develop new tour packages aimed at attracting more Chinese tourists from Yunnan to Cambodia, particularly to Siem Reap.
Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, met with the companies for a work discussion on November 6, 2024 during the occasion accompanying the visit of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet to attend the 8th Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit, the 10th Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit, and the 11th Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Viet Nam (CLMV) Summit.
The seventeen companies include companies that organise tour packages and bring in tourists, as well as companies involved in developing tourism destinations and the Siem Reap Angkor International Airport.
Minister of Tourism Hout Hak underscored Cambodia’s tourism potential, investment opportunities, and the government’s new incentive policies. Following the discussions, all the companies agreed to arrange visits to explore Cambodia’s new tourism destinations further. They also agreed to promote tourism jointly, organise joint events, and create new tour packages aimed at attracting more Chinese tourists from Yunnan to Cambodia, particularly to Siem Reap Province.
