26 Japanese investors interested in studying investment opportunities in Cambodia

A group of 26 Japanese investors has shown interest in exploring investment opportunities in Cambodian agriculture, food processing, and aquaculture.

Hun Manet, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received this group yesterday at the Peace Palace.

Takahashi Fumiaki, former Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia and current President of the Japan-Cambodia Association (JCA), who led the delegation, told Premier Hun Manet of the JCA’s efforts to promote Cambodia’s potential to attract Japanese investment companies, especially Japanese small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), to invest in Cambodia, and reaffirmed the JCA’s commitment to continue to strengthen and expand cooperation with the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) in the industrial sector and human resource development.

For his part, Hun Manet highly appreciated the JCA for always contributing to strengthening Japan-Cambodia relations, especially tightening the connection between the two countries’ private sectors.

The Cambodian Premier underlined the Japanese private sector’s great contribution to promoting Cambodia’s economic growth over the past few decades and congratulated the JCA on the establishment of its office in Cambodia and three vocational training schools on automotive repair, plastic surgery, and IT engineering skills.

He said the JCA’s intention is in line with the RGC’s strategic goals to promote SMEs in Cambodia and form a production chain for supplying the domestic and foreign markets.

The premier also outlined the policies and measures the Royal Government of Cambodia has put in place to encourage and ensure the country’s business and investment environment and competitiveness.

Regarding the association’s cooperation in the industrial sector and human resource development, Samdech Thipadei encouraged JCA to discuss with relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions to prepare a clear plan in line with actual needs. AKP
