Major plans to develop Famagusta

Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides has announced 30 new projects to boost the development of the free part of Famagusta district with a total budget of 122 million euros. They are aimed at improving infrastructure, local services, and the overall well-being of residents.

The announcement came during a regional gathering held in Paralimni as part of the president’s ongoing tour of Cyprus’ municipalities and communities.

Joined by cabinet members and various state officials, Christodoulides emphasized the importance of the Famagusta district in contributing to Cyprus’ economic growth. He highlighted the district’s significant role in tourism and agriculture, and its broader influence on the nation’s economic competitiveness.

The newly announced projects span a wide range of sectors and are aimed at transforming the region. These include major upgrades to the road network, the development of linear and urban parks, and enhancing tourism infrastructure to further support the island’s vital tourism industry. The president also stressed the importance of improving sports infrastructure, which will include developing sports centers for residents and tourists alike.
