The new year for tourism in Cyprus started on a high note, with tourist arrivals recording an annual increase of 27.4% in January.
According to data from CySTAT, tourist arrivals in January amounted to 112,100 compared to 87,961 in the corresponding month last year, marking an increase of 27.4%.
From an analysis of the same data, it appears that arrivals from Israel were the main source of tourism for January 2025, accounting for 21.1% (23,704) of total arrivals.
This was followed by arrivals from the United Kingdom at 16.7% (18,701), arrivals from Poland at 14.1% (15,791) and arrivals from Greece at 10.1% (11,288).
It is noted that, based on the results of the CySTAT survey, the purpose of travel in January 2025 was vacation for 56.4% of tourists, visiting friends or relatives for 24.5%, and business for 19.0%.
Accordingly, for January 2024, 60.8% visited Cyprus for holidays, 21.2% to visit friends or relatives and 17.2% for business reasons.
