Ministry of Commerce, U.S. delegation discuss bilateral trade cooperation

Rath Saravuth, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce, received a courtesy call on 17 February from Jimmy Panetta, United States Representative from the Democratic Party, along with his colleagues during their official visit to Cambodia.

During the meeting, the Secretary of State warmly welcomed the U.S. delegation and exchanged views on trade relations and cooperation between the two countries.

He also informed the delegation about Cambodia’s achievements and trade opportunities and briefed them on the country’s trade policy and facilitation.

Saravuth highlighted the potential of the Cambodian market and the integration of Cambodia’s trade into regional and global markets through several key Cambodian trade agreements, with the aim of continually expanding and creating additional markets to promote Cambodia’s economic growth and attract more investment into the Kingdom.

The U.S. remains the largest market for Cambodian products, particularly garments, footwear, and travel goods.

In 2024, Cambodia exported nearly $10 billion worth of products to the U.S., representing an 11 percent increase compared to the previous year, according to a recent report from the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia.

The Kingdom’s main exports to the U.S. include apparel, clothing accessories, leather, travel goods, handbags, electrical machinery and equipment, and footwear, while it imports vehicles, machinery and mechanical appliances, medical equipment, and pharmaceutical products from the U.S. AKP
