Cypriot beaches ranked among Europe’s best in 2025

Two beaches in Cyprus have been named among the top 25 in Europe for 2025, according to the latest rankings by the global travel platform TripAdvisor. Konnos beach, in the Paralimni-Deryneia municipality, and Makronissos beach, in Ayia Napa, have secured spots on the prestigious list.

Konnos beach has been recognised as the 19th best beach in Europe in the annual Travellers’ Choice Awards. The beach, known for its crystal-clear waters and golden sands, falls administratively under both Paralimni-Deryneia and Ayia Napa, with approximately 80 per cent of its area managed by the former.

Officials in Paralimni-Deryneia have welcomed the recognition, highlighting ongoing efforts to improve services and infrastructure.

The municipality, which boasts over 18 blue flag-certified beaches, the highest number for any municipality in Cyprus, said it will continue to enhance safety, accessibility, and visitor amenities across its coastal areas.

Meanwhile, Makronissos beach has been ranked as Europe’s 24th best. The beach, a favourite among locals and tourists alike, is celebrated for its pristine environment and family-friendly atmosphere.

Ayia Napa’s mayor, Christos Zannettou, hailed the ranking as further proof of the municipality’s dedication to maintaining high standards. He commended both municipal staff and residents for their role in managing and preserving the coastline.

“These awards and rankings serve as powerful tools in promoting our tourism industry,” Zannettou said.

“We will continue to ensure our beaches remain clean and well-equipped, providing all necessary facilities for visitors.”

The recognition from TripAdvisor underscores Cyprus’ enduring appeal as a top holiday destination, with its beaches consistently ranking among Europe’s finest.
