Cambodia committed to realising ASEAN community vision

Cambodia is committed to working with other ASEAN Member States to realise the ASEAN Community Vision to bring about real socio-economic progress for the community as a whole, said Prime Minister Hun Manet.

Mr Hun Manet made the remarks at the opening ceremony of the Cambodia-ASEAN Business Summit 2025 on Thursday.

In his keynote address at the summit themed “Accelerating ASEAN’s Connectivity: People, Infrastructure, and Trade,” he said that the ASEAN region offers a compelling investment landscape, characterised by robust economic dynamism and a steadfast commitment to economic partnership and regional integration.

“As a Member State of ASEAN since 1999, Cambodia is an immensely potential market. Our economic foundation is built on decades of proven high growth,” he noted.

Mr Hun Manet stated that Cambodia’s economy grew at an average of over 7 percent annually before the COVID-19 outbreak and is firmly on track to return to this momentum, with a projected growth of 6.3 percent in 2025, and expected to remain between 6 and 7 percent in the medium term. He attributed this strong performance to the country’s open policy toward international trade and investment, which offers strategic investment advantages underpinned by political and economic stability.

He added that ASEAN’s successful navigation of the economic partnership landscape is evident in its comprehensive network of free trade agreements with key leading economies.

He noted that the common endeavour enables ASEAN to navigate through regional and global economic challenges. AKP
