Tourism information office project gets green light in Paphos

A new chapter in Paphos’ tourism development began on Friday, with the signing of a contract to create the town’s new tourism information office.

The municipality of Paphos confirmed it has signed the agreement with the construction company B.K.V. Exelixis General Constructions Ltd to carry out the works on behalf of the deputy ministry of tourism. Paphos mayor Phedonas Phedonos and the company’s director, Demetris Konteatis, signed on behalf of their respective parties.

The project will see the transformation of a selected site into the new central headquarters of the deputy ministry’s local office. The total cost of the works is €234,430, including VAT.

The entire amount is being financed by the deputy ministry of tourism.

The municipality will oversee the six-month project, which includes strict timeframes in the hopes of completing the work ahead of schedule.

Once completed, the office will accommodate four permanent staff members. It will also act as the main hub for visitor information and support, serving both tourists and locals.

The location of the new office was carefully chosen. It will be in the heart of the old town, next to the central bus station, a spot with heavy tourist traffic, and near two major museums that are due to open soon.

The municipality said the project supports its broader aim of revitalising Paphos’ historic centre. It is expected to improve everyday life for residents while also strengthening the city’s image as a cultural and tourist destination.

“This partnership with the deputy ministry of tourism highlights the efficiency and speed at which important local projects can be delivered,” the municipality stated, underlining its commitment to projects with a direct and positive impact on the local community.
