A pod of eight dolphins was spotted off the coast of Larnaca during a diving event, with underwater photographers taking the opportunity to document the experience.
“A pod of eight dolphins passed beneath us and watched us, their bodies marked with scars … Two of them performed tricks for us,” Fanos Avouris, an underwater photographer, wrote on Facebook.
“The truth was that many times I wondered, seeing photographs or videos of my friends with dolphins swimming near their boat why they did not go into the sea to come face to face with these wonderful creatures,” he said.
As such, he said, when the dolphins passed by his boat, “I did not need more than 20 seconds to find myself in the sea with a camera in my hand, swimming timidly to come face to face with these wonderful creatures”.
