The National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) Thursday hosted a meeting to review the Financial Inclusion Committee’s progress, aimed at enhancing financial literacy, consumer protection, and ethical standards within Cambodia’s banking and microfinance sectors.
Yim Leat, Deputy Governor of NBC, chaired a meeting to review the first-half progress of the Financial Inclusion Committee of the Association of Banks in Cambodia (ABC) and the Cambodia Microfinance Association (CMA) in Phnom Penh on June 26.
The meeting aimed to strengthen the financial ecosystem by advancing financial literacy, enhancing consumer protection, and fostering a more transparent and stable financial climate.
Key agenda items included deliberations on refining the code of ethics for credit officers, redefining microfinance operations to align with market needs, establishing incentive principles for credit staff, amending credit contract standards, and improving the role of customer service centres across the banking and finance sector.
