Cambodia showcases trade, investment and culture at Expo 2025 Osaka

The Ministry of Commerce, in its capacity as the Inter-Ministerial Committee for the Preparation and Participation in World and International Trade Expositions, organised the “Cambodia National Day” celebration on Saturday at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.

The event was presided over by Deputy Prime Minister Sok Chenda Sophea, who attended as the High Representative of Prime Minister Hun Manet, along with Japan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs Fujii Hisayuki. The ceremony brought together delegations from Cambodia and Japan, representatives from ASEAN member states and international pavilions, Cambodian nationals living in Japan, and around 500 national and international guests.

The celebration aimed to showcase Cambodia’s economic development, trade and investment potential, tourism appeal, and rich cultural heritage, further enhancing the Kingdom’s visibility on the global stage.

A series of traditional performances were held, including the Apsara Dance, Sbek Thom shadow puppetry, Kujori and Kujerong dances, the Peacock Dance of Pailin, the Preah Sangha Dance, and the Coconut Shell Dance. A National Day Parade led participants from the Grand Ring to the Cambodia Pavilion. The event also featured the signing of a memorandum of understanding and a commemorative reception to mark the occasion.

Running from April 13 to October 13, 2025, Expo 2025 Osaka is expected to attract millions of visitors over its six-month duration. The Cambodia Pavilion, inspired by the ancient Koh Ker Temple, highlights the country’s cultural heritage and economic ambitions. Since its opening, the pavilion has welcomed approximately 800,000 visitors, reflecting growing international interest in Cambodia’s tourism and investment potential.
