Cambodia Airports named operator of new Techo International Airport

Synopsis: Cambodia Airports will bring its expertise and experience to optimise operations at the large-scale airport complex with its terminal spanning over 240,000 square metres.

Cambodia Airports has been named as the operator of the Techo International Airport, which is scheduled to open in September 2025.

To operate the new international Phnom Penh airport, set to open in the second half of 2025, Cambodia Airport Investment Co Ltd (CAIC), a subsidiary of Overseas Cambodian Investment Corporation (OCIC) a Cambodian conglomerate, selected Cambodia Airports, a subsidiary of VINCI Airports, the world’s leading private airport operator, a statement issued by VINCI Airports said.

“Cambodia Airports will bring its expertise and experience to optimise operations at the large-scale airport complex with its terminal spanning over 240,000 square metres.”

It will deploy its airport culture of excellence in key areas such as efficiency, passenger experience and comfort, the statement said.

The operator’s scope also includes air service development aimed at boosting Cambodia’s connectivity, especially by attracting new airlines and opening new routes, it added.

“With this appointment, Cambodia Airports further strengthens its legacy and shows agility in pivoting to new business opportunities.”

Retrospectively, on July 6, 1995, SCA/Cambodia Airports became the concessionaire of Phnom Penh airport, and in 30 years, it developed the airport to increase traffic by 20 times – from 300,000 passengers in 1995 to six million as of today.

“We are pursuing our commitment towards operational excellence and the development of the airline industry worldwide. The continuation of our operations in Cambodia emphasises the recognition of the expertise of our teams, who play an essential role in the attractiveness of the region,” said Nicolas Notebaert, VINCI’s CEO of Concessions.
