The Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction,
together with other relevant ministries and institutions, will chart out a special plan focusing on infrastructure to transform Phnom Penh into the most attractive capital for investors and tourists.
During the Inter-Ministerial Meeting on Infrastructure Management in Phnom Penh recently, Say Samal, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction, said that the infrastructure project in Phnom Penh will make Phnom Penh people proud of their city.
“The infrastructure project in Phnom Penh will make Phnom Penh people proud to tell the world.
We are the residents of Phnom Penh, the beautiful capital of the Kingdom of Cambodia,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.
The project aims to improve the image of the Cambodian capital to be more beautiful, comfortable for living, easier for making a living and attractive for more investments. “This will improve the quality of life of the people in the capital in line with Cambodia’s vision to becoming a high-income country by 2050,” Samal said.
Peng Po Nea, Minister of Public Works and Transport, extended all support to the Ministry of Land Management to promote this project to make Phnom Penh beautiful and also attractive to investors.
According to a release from the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, Samal also asked the people living in the capital city to maintain the values of Phnom Penh, including its old heritage, for the benefit of the next generation.
The new look city will require collaboration between the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction and the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, the release noted.
The two ministries will work together to study the legality of dilapidated buildings and set standards for construction. At the same time, the important factors to be discussed together are the improvement of old buildings and the construction of new buildings to adapt to the social, economic and cultural development of Cambodia, it said.
