Chinese investors urged to tap vast opportunities in Kingdom

Synopsis: Senior Minister Ly Thuch tells investors to consider expanding their ventures in Cambodia, supporting China’s ‘Belt and Road Initiative’ as well as the ‘Cambodia-China Diamond Cooperation’.

Ly Thuch, Senior Minister and Chairman of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific (ESCAP), urged Chinese investors to explore investment opportunities in Cambodia.

Speaking at the 19th China Brand Festival under the theme “Artificial Intelligence and Globalisation,” in Shenzhen, People’s Republic of China, on Saturday, Thuch highlighted Cambodia’s investment potential and opportunities to Chinese investors.

Also, he underscored the long-standing friendship and cooperation between Cambodia and China, expressing gratitude for China’s contributions to Cambodia’s peace and development.

He noted that Cambodia possesses strong investment fundamentals, including quality infrastructure such as roads, railways, ports, airports, electricity, clean water networks, and efficient transportation systems. The country also benefits from a young, active workforce and investor-friendly laws, as well as a free trade agreement with China, creating a highly favourable environment for investment across all sectors.

“The Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC), under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet, is firmly committed to offering investors protection, abundant opportunities, and the trust needed for their businesses to grow with integrity,” he said.

Thuch invited all investors to consider expanding their ventures in Cambodia, supporting the Prime Minister’s vision to boost direct investment and contribute to China’s “Belt and Road Initiative” and the “Cambodia-China Diamond Cooperation.”

He also thanked investors for their continued confidence in the Royal Government’s leadership, which has helped create numerous jobs for Cambodians and driven national development.

“Over the 67 years of formal diplomatic relations since 1958, Cambodia and China have deepened and expanded their friendship to be closer, stronger, and enduring as iron friends, serving the interests of both peoples and nations,” Thuch emphasised. “Cambodia and China are good brothers and true friends, making Cambodia a trusted investment partner for Chinese investors.”

Speaking at the first anniversary of the Cambodia Confederation of Investors Association (CCIA) and the 2025 Solidarity Dinner in Phnom Penh in June, Mr Hun Manet said that Cambodia continues to build and maintain the confidence of investors and the public, both domestically and internationally.

“Please have trust and confidence in the Royal Government of Cambodia. We will continue to be a good partner for all investors, domestically and especially for our foreign investors in Cambodia.

I hope that we will have a long way to go together. I am sure you will find the opportunity to begin our relationship and grow together in the future,” said Mr Hun Manet.

According to the report of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), in the first half of 2025, Cambodia attracted fixed-asset investment of $5.8 billion, representing a 77 per cent year-on-year increase.

China remained the top foreign investor in the kingdom, the CDC said, adding that other key foreign investors included those from Singapore, Vietnam, the United Kingdom, the United States, Samoa, and South Korea.
