Malaysia’s Firefly Airlines on Thursday launched the first-ever direct flights from Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur to Cambodia’s Siem Reap province, Cambodia’s Minister of Tourism Huot Hak said.
A Firefly Boeing 737-800 aircraft, carrying 157 passengers, safely landed at the Siem Reap Angkor International Airport, he said in a post on his official Telegram channel.
“The airline will continue operating flights to the Siem Reap Angkor International Airport three times per week-every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday,” Hak said.
Located in northwestern Cambodia, Siem Reap province is home to the UNESCO-listed Angkor Archaeological Park, which is the kingdom’s most popular tourist destination.
The ancient park, home to 91 ancient temples built from the ninth to the 13th centuries, welcomed about 765,518 international tourists in the first 10 months of 2025, generating a gross revenue of $35.5 million from ticket sales, according to the state-owned Angkor Enterprise. Xinhua
