Airports in Cyprus reach milestone

Hermes Airports announced on Monday that, “for the first time in the history of Cyprus’ airports,” passenger traffic has today reached 13 million travelers (arriving and departing) since the beginning of the current year.

“Beyond its symbolic significance, this milestone demonstrates the strong and consistent growth of the country’s air connectivity, as a result of long-standing efforts and close cooperation between Hermes Airports, the tourism sector and the state,” the company said in an announcement.

Every milestone represents more than just a number, it said, adding that 13 million passengers reflect 160 routes operated by 60 airlines across 41 countries, “and we continue to grow.” This achievement, it said, “confirms that our strategy to enhance the country’s connectivity is moving in the right direction, and it encourages us to pursue even more ambitious goals, such as securing year-round connectivity and establishing direct flights with key international cities.”

Hermes Airports expressed its gratitude to airlines operating in Cyprus, to all stakeholders with whom it maintains close collaboration, and to every traveler “who contributed to making this milestone a reality.”
