The Famagusta Tourism Board (Etap) and businesspeople of the district were at the “ITB BERLIN 2024” international tourism exhibition, held last week, in an effort to promote bookings in Germany.
Giorgos Kafkalias, Etap’s official stressed the importance of the German market for Cyprus tourism, as it is the largest market in Europe, with significant scope for growing tourism, within the next years.
A statement by Etap said that “through the contacts, despite the challenges that the German economy has to face, there was a moderate optimism that tourist flows will be at about last year’s levels, with a possible slight decrease”.
Etap said there was interest from German travel agents, in special forms of tourism, such as hiking, cycling, diving, gastronomy and agritourism, in addition to the beach tourism of the summer months.
In its meetings Etap highlighted the advantages of the entire Famagusta district and the different activities that visitors can enjoy throughout the year, with a particular focus on families with children, young couples, and visitors over 55 years of age.
Kafkalias said that “Famagusta district has undeniably some of the best and cleanest beaches in Cyprus, with international awards and recognition, but it has many more experiences to offer to every visitor throughout the year.”
The mobile phone app which provides a virtual tour with images and details for every point of interest in the Famagusta area, was also promoted.
Etap aims to participate in all important international tourism exhibitions within the year, to promote the province, as well as contribute to the efforts of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism to promote Cyprus abroad. Cyprus Mail
