11 high-speed locomotives from Japan will arrive in Cambodia next week.
The locomotives have been purchased by Royal Railway Cambodia, a company owned by Tycoon Kith Meng.
The 11 KiHa 183 Series DMU high-speed passenger locomotives will be shipped from Hokkaido to Cambodia and left Japan on April 15, 2024 and are scheduled to arrive at Sihanoukville Port on April 27, 2024.
Japan’s KiHa 183 Series DMU high-speed locomotive can reach speeds of up to 110 km / h and are expected to be used on the planned Phnom Penh-Poipet railway which will be be the first high-speed railway in Cambodia.
According to the Ministry of Public Works, the 382-kilometer high-speed railway project will require an investment of more than 4 billion US dollars. (khmertimeskh)
