The Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) and the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Cambodia (CCIFC) have joined forces to strengthen investment cooperation between the two nations and unlock new opportunities for French businesses in Cambodia’s growing economy.
The commitment was made at a meeting co-chaired by CCC President Kith Meng and Cyril Girot, Chairman of CCIFC on Tuesday.
The meeting was attended by CEOs of major French and Cambodian companies where they exchanged experiences and information about business opportunities and market situation and explored the possibility of cooperating on joint projects.
The CCC’s expertise in the Cambodian business landscape will prove invaluable for French companies seeking to navigate regulations, identify potential partners, and understand market trends.
The CCIFC’s extensive network within France can connect Cambodian businesses with potential investors and partners, facilitating a two-way flow of investment and knowledge.
At the meeting, Meng underscored the relations between the two countries that are firmly rooted in common values, historical ties, cultural exchanges and economic cooperation.
“The meeting reflected the partnership and common vision of the Cambodian-French business community towards common prosperity,” Meng said.
He also stressed that after the official visit of Prime Minister Hun Manet to France recently, the relationship between the two countries has remarkably developed into a strategic partnership.
The CCC President encouraged French companies to seek investment opportunities in the Cambodian market and form long-term partnerships for the economic development of both countries.
Cyril emphasized the good cooperation with CCC and the interest of French investors in the Cambodian market.
“The meeting will help promote business relations and cooperation,” Cyril said.
CCIFC chairman also recalled the successful organization of the Cambodia-France Business Forum in January in Paris and announced several business events to be co-organized by the two chambers of commerce in July.
The combined efforts of the two chambers of commerce represent a significant step forward in fostering closer economic ties between Cambodia and France. This collaboration has the potential to unlock new investment opportunities, create jobs, and contribute to the economic prosperity of both nations.
The French Republic is a major trade partner of Cambodia in the European Union.
Bilateral trade between Cambodia and France amounted to $515 million last year, a year-on-year decrease of five percent, a General Department of Customs and Excise report showed.
Most Cambodian exports to France are garments, footwear, travel goods, and agricultural products, while notable imports include vehicles, electrical and electronic equipment, construction materials and furniture.(khmertimeskh)
