Heng Sour, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, met with Casey Barnett, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (AmCham), at the Ministry on June 3, 2024.
During the meeting, the Minister and Barnett discussed the challenges of increasing labour productivity in the production chain to make the Cambodian workforce more productive and attract more investment from the United States.
In addition, the Minister also confirmed to his counterpart that, in order to increase the productivity of the people to better meet the needs of the private sector, the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, which is a staff of the Royal Government, has provided vocational technical training to the people, both unemployed and those who are working, so they can have access to flexible shifts.
At the same time, the two sides agreed to jointly promote the development of new skills in Cambodia, which the market needs to increase to increase labour productivity in line with the needs of the competitive market and to attract large investments to Cambodia.
The Minister of Labour stressed that the success of the American Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia is what the Ministry itself as well as the Royal Government want.
