Cambodia’s dry rubber exports generated revenue of $213.3 million in the first half of 2024, marking an 8.6% increase from $196.3 mil during the same period last year, according to a report released by the General Directorate of Rubber yesterday.
The report highlighted that the country exported 140,653 tonnes of dry rubber from January to June this year, reflecting a slight 1% rise from the 139,220 tonnes exported in the same period last year.
“A ton of dry rubber averaged $1,517 during the first half of the year, which is about $107 dollars more than the average price in the same period last year,” said Khun Kakada, acting director-general of the General Directorate of Rubber, wrote in the report.
Cambodia exports dry rubber primarily to Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, and China, solidifying its position as a significant player in the regional rubber market.
The report also noted that Cambodia has planted rubber trees across a total area of 407,172 hectares, with 320,184 hectares, or 78.6%, with trees mature enough for tapping.
