Ayia Napa festival welcomes traditional Cyprus flavours

While Ayia Napa is in peak season, brimming with tourists but also local visitors, a festival arrives to add a traditional spin. Far from the town’s party vibes, is a festival that is all about Cyprus traditions, local flavours and handicrafts. The 6th Ayia Napa Festival of Traditional Flavours, taking place on August 9, 10 and 11 will have a rich events programme.

Held at the Ayia Napa central square, the festival will officially open on the Friday at 8pm, inaugurated by the Ayia Napa Mayor Christos Zannettou and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Andreas Gregoriou. A live music concert will follow as the festival’s kiosks and stands open, welcoming visitors to browse local produce and crafts. Cypriot handicrafts such as knife-making, chair-weaving, basking-weaving and more will be on display while local delights offer true flavours of the island.

Throughout the festival’s three days, tastings and exhibitions will be on, a daily artistic programme to entertain visitors with music, song and dance while educational programmes for children and an arts exhibition by Andrea Charalambides and Andreas Ioannides run as well. All in the heart of a very busy summer hotspot.
