Cambodia exported a total of 379,546 tonnes of milled rice in the first seven months of 2024, earning a revenue of $280 million, the Cambodia Rice Federation said in a news release on Monday.
Some 53 companies shipped milled rice to 64 countries and regions during the January-July period, the news release said, adding that China remained one of the major buyers.
The Kingdom exported 77,204 tonnes of milled rice to China during the above-mentioned period, making a gross revenue of $48.28 million, the news release said.
The varieties of rice exported comprise fragrant rice, white rice, parboiled rice, and organic rice, among others.
Im Rachna, an undersecretary of state and spokesperson for Cambodia’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, said China is one of the key markets for Cambodia’s agricultural products.
“The purchase of our agricultural products by China and other countries has significantly contributed to the development of Cambodia’s agricultural sector and brought benefits to the Cambodian people, particularly farmers,” she told Xinhua. Xinhua
