The Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF) has published a report with all the grants it has given since 2016, with the two state universities receiving almost a third of some €180m.
The report, entitled “2016 – May 2024: Cumulative funding table per beneficiary – the top 100 beneficiaries”, names the 100 leading public and private organisations that have received its grants – totalling €180,374,474.48 – since 2016.
“RIF attaches particular importance to the evaluation of the impact and effects of the Research and Innovation Programs it announces over time, examining a series of issues that include, among others, the development of new knowledge, products and services, the creation of a critical mass of researchers and innovators businesses, the creation of research infrastructure, the creation and maintenance of new jobs, etc.,” it said in a note accompanying the report. “As a rule, in addition to the statistical data gathered from time to time by RIF regarding the participation in national and European Programs of individuals and organisations, the evaluation of the participation and their impact is carried out by specialised expert houses,” it added.

Below are the top 20 beneficiaries who received the most funds, starting with the University of Cyprus that received €42,349,729.89, taking a clear lead over the second largest beneficiary, the Cyprus University of Technology, which was granted €16,748,365.87.
