Limassol to host inaugural Women in STEM Forum

Women in Tech Cyprus and TechIsland are joining forces to host the first-ever Women in STEM Cyprus Forum, set for October 8, 2024, at the Kolla Culture Factory in Limassol.

The event, held under the auspices of President Nikos Christodoulides, coincides with Ada Lovelace Day, a global occasion celebrating the achievements of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

According to the announcement from the organisers, the forum aims to create a dynamic and inclusive platform for dialogue, networking, and the empowerment of women and girls in STEM careers, regardless of age.
The event promises a series of inspiring talks and panel discussions, featuring high-profile speakers like Gender Equality Commissioner Josie Christodoulou.

Key topics include increasing female participation in STEM fields, retaining women in tech roles, promoting women into leadership positions, and supporting female entrepreneurs to secure venture capital and grow their businesses.

Workshops will also be available, catering to final-year students, university students, and women transitioning from other sectors or returning to work after a career break.
Entrance to the forum, including participation in the workshops, is free, though pre-registration is required.

Tanya Romanyukha, Director of Women in Tech Cyprus and General Manager of TechIsland, commented that “the Women in STEM Forum, coinciding with Ada Lovelace Day, stands as a powerful testament to the progress we’ve made and the journey ahead”.

She added that “our mission is to inspire and empower more women to break barriers in the innovation economy, fostering a community where their potential is not just recognised but actively nurtured.”

“We truly believe that together, we can shape a future where women lead in innovation, and every young girl sees a path for herself in STEM,” Romanyukha concluded.

Meanwhile, it should be noted that the forum has been made possible through the support of numerous sponsors and partners. Exness leads as the General Sponsor, with Adsterra backing the event as the Silver Sponsor.

Additionally, TribeSelzy, and Energame contribute as Bronze Sponsors. Alphamega also plays a key role as a Sponsor, while CIM – The Cyprus Business School serves as the Academic Partner. Gloria Jeans Coffee Cyprus and KEAN Soft Drinks add their support as the Coffee and Beverages Partners, respectively.

Furthermore, a range of media outlets, including Cyprus Mail, Digital Tree, Fast Forward, and Cyprus Business Group, join as Media Partners.

Finally, ecosystem partners include the CYENS Centre of Excellence and the Cyprus Computer Society (CCS), alongside community partners Founders CY and Cyprus_iT.
