Cambodian students committed to advancing robotics technology after winning 2nd place at FIRST Global Challenge

A team of nine Cambodian high school students secured 2nd place at the 2024 FIRST Global Challenge, held in Athens, Greece, from Sept. 26-29, 2024. Competing against teams from over 190 countries, the Cambodian students showcased exceptional robotics skills.

At a reception on Oct. 21, 2024, at the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI), the group demonstrated its dedication to advancing robotics technology in Cambodia.

Speaking to the group, Dav Ansan, Secretary of State and esteemed representative of Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation, emphasised the importance of science and technology for Cambodia’s future.

He commended the students for their achievements and essential skills, such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. He also encouraged them to further the spirit of competition, work hard, and aim for excellence, reminding them of their role in achieving Cambodia’s 2050 vision.

The 2024 FIRST Global Challenge, themed “Feeding the Future,” tasked participants to address global energy issues through robotics, promoting sustainable solutions. The Cambodian team spent months preparing a robot, demonstrating creativity and collaboration. They exchanged energy efficiency and innovation knowledge, further inspiring the next generation of engineers and scientists. AKP
