Paphos has secured a silver medal in the 2024-2026 Top 100 Green Destinations global rankings, a recognition for coastal quality excellence.
The city earned its place after a reassessment by international independent tourism sustainability experts, who evaluated the destination’s commitment to sustainable practices and strategic priorities.
The award recognised Paphos’s pristine beaches and the rare vegetation of the Akamas region. Assessment criteria included water quality, biodiversity, environmental conditions, socioeconomic status, cultural heritage, air quality, noise levels, and tourism information quality.
The Pafos Regional Board of Tourism (ETAP) stated that this recognition aligns with their vision to establish Paphos as a premium tourist destination offering diverse visitor experiences while maintaining environmental sustainability and cultural heritage preservation.
Following this silver award, ETAP aims to achieve gold and platinum certifications in coming years and join the select group of destinations worldwide with Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) recognition.
