The Cambodian scarf, known as krama, was inscribed as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO during the 19th session of the Intergovernmental Committee of the 2003 UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Asunción, Paraguay.
In a congratulatory message, Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen expressed pride in this historic achievement, stating, “This is a great accomplishment for the nation and its people, demonstrating our commitment to preserving the krama as a heritage for future generations.”
Hun Sen also expressed gratitude to Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk and King Norodom Sihamoni for their ongoing support of national cultural heritage. He further commended the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, as well as various national and international institutions, in achieving this milestone.Fresh News
