The turnover index for Cyprus’ industrial sector rose by 1.3 per cent in September 2024, when compared to the same month in 2023, according to the state’s statistical service.

Over the first nine months of 2024, the index recorded a cumulative increase of 2.2 per cent compared to the corresponding period in 2023.

In September 2024, the Industrial Turnover Index reached 143.5 points, with 2021 acting as the base year set at 100 points.

The manufacturing sector, in particular, showed a strong performance, with its index reaching 131.2 points, representing a 5.1 per cent rise compared to September 2023.

Further growth was observed in the mining and quarrying sector, which increased by 13.8 per cent.

Conversely, declines were noted in electricity supply, down by 9.5 per cent, and water supply and material recovery, which dropped by 1.2 per cent.

The statistical service noted that the industrial turnover index provides a measure of the evolution of market activity across key industrial sectors, reflecting the broader economic trends within the country.
