The Bank of Cyprus on Wednesday announced that it has renewed its ‘Equality Employer’ certification, recognising its efforts to promote gender equality in the workplace.
According to the announcement, the certification reflects the bank’s commitment to equal opportunities and fostering an inclusive environment.
According to an announcement, the renewal was conducted by the Labour Ministry’s national certification body, which is responsible for the implementation of good practices on gender equality in the working environment.
It followed a comprehensive evaluation process that included both qualitative and quantitative assessments to verify the implementation of policies ensuring gender equality, equal pay, and work-life balance.
The certification process evaluated whether enterprises implement policies and procedures that ensure gender equality in the workplace.
These include opportunities for advancement, work-life balance, and equal pay for men and women performing equal work or work of equal value.
By renewing this certification, the Bank of Cyprus demonstrated its adherence to best practices and standards in fostering an equitable work environment.
The assessment underlined the bank’s alignment with national labour guidelines and its dedication to building an inclusive corporate culture.
Marilena Iordanou-Ioannidou, manager of rewards and organisational effectiveness, commented on the award during a ceremony held on Thursday, December 5.
“The certification confirms and recognises, once again, our bank’s actions and our ongoing commitment to promote gender equality by implementing a holistic human resources management system,” she said.
She added that “by ensuring gender equality, we are simultaneously enhancing our productivity and competitiveness”.
“Gender equality is a fundamental value of our Bank and a key pillar of our strategy,” Iordanou-Ioannidou continued.
“Certification as an Equality Employer honours us and encourages us to continuously upgrade our work,” she concluded.
