Bank of Cyprus has introduced the QuickPay QR Code, a new feature enabling customers to send and receive payments quickly and securely through the BoC Mobile App using only their mobile phones.
The bank said that this is designed to meet customer needs, with this service aiming to simplify transactions.
Users can now send and receive money without sharing additional information, such as phone numbers.
Integrated into the app, the QuickPay QR Code offers a fast, secure, and efficient way to handle payments.
To access the feature, customers need to open the QuickPay section at the bottom of the app screen and select ‘QR Code’.
The generated code can then be scanned by others to transfer payments.
If the individual scanning the code is already logged into the app, they are directed to the QuickPay screen, where a pop-up displays the payee’s name.
Those not logged in are prompted to log into the app, after which the payee’s details appear.
The bank also said that the new service is particularly beneficial for self-employed professionals.
According to the bank, the service is “not for corporate accounts, [but] is however very practical especially for self-employed people as they can serve their customers and pay via QuickPay’s QR code, just with their smartphone”.
For better convenience, users can download the QR code as a PDF file and print it for display at their premises.
Customers can then scan the code to make direct payments to the account.
The bank said that transactions are completed within seconds, and traders are notified immediately of successful payments.
“With no additional devices required, the service is an ideal solution for those seeking fast, seamless, and practical payment options,” the announcement concluded.
