Cyprus economy on track as key sectors thrive

The Cypriot economy showed robust growth across key sectors during January-October 2024, according to a report released on Thursday by the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat).

The report showed that manufacturing output rose by 3.3 per cent during the January-September 2024 period compared to the same period in 2023.

Similarly, approved building permits reached 1,627,500 square metres in January-June 2024, marking a sharp increase of 46.5 per cent year-on-year.

Motor vehicle registrations surged by 11.5 per cent to 42,930 in January-October 2024, including a 15.8 per cent soar in private saloon car registrations to 29,588, and a 34.2 per cent rise in light truck registrations, totaling 3,855. 

Tourism also saw growth, with arrivals increasing by 4.6 per cent to 3,727,196 compared to 3,562,417 in the same period last year. 

However, total imports of goods fell by 12.3 per cent to €9.75 billion, while exports decreased by 5.3 per cent to €3.38 billion in January-October 2024.

Meanwhile, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) recorded an increase of 1.8 per cent, recorded a rise in inflation compared to the previous year.
