The first of three state projects announced for Larnaca Marina following the termination of the previous contractor’s agreement has officially entered implementation phase.
Transport Minister Alexis Vafeades announced after Wednesday’s Cabinet meeting that €1.5 million has been approved for dredging and renovation works at Larnaca Marina.
The works are deemed essential for the marina’s safe operation and vessel navigation, as well as general safety upgrades in surrounding areas.
“This action fulfils our commitments to the Larnaca community that we would proceed with these works as soon as possible”, Vafeades said. He added that studies for the dredging have been completed and the tender process will begin immediately.
The project is expected to take six months to complete following a public tender to be launched by the Department of Public Works.
For the two remaining projects – construction of a Nautical Club building and landscaping of the marina – the Larnaca Municipality, appointed as the contracting authority, is expected to announce an architectural competition within the year.
