€60 million Limassol healthcare centre gets the green light

The environmental authority has approved the €60 million American Medical Centre Limassol / American Heart Institute project, according to an announcement released on Friday.

“The approval by the Environmental Authority lays the foundation for a model private hospital in Limassol, setting a new benchmark for the health sector based on the highest international standards,” said Marinos Sotiriou, a founding member of AMC.

The facility, covering 12,900 square metres with an estimated investment of €60 million, is set to become a leading healthcare institution in Cyprus and one of the most technologically advanced private hospitals in the district.

According to the statement, “The design by a renowned architectural firm from London incorporates eco-sustainability and an energy-efficient strategy.”

The AMC said that “The installation of photovoltaic systems with a capacity of approximately 115 kW is expected to fulfil about 25 per cent of the hospital’s energy needs,” emphasising sustainability through renewable energy on both the building’s facade and roof.

The hospital environment will be enhanced by lush vegetation, creating a verdant oasis that not only beautifies but also supports energy efficiency through an advanced shading system optimising natural light.

The construction is estimated to take about 1.5 years, and it is expected to create significant employment opportunities for skilled scientific and medical personnel.

AMC Limassol aims to redefine private healthcare standards in Cyprus, equipped with cutting-edge technology and adhering to the latest international healthcare protocols.

Moreover, the facility will feature ten floors, with additional space for two basement levels and a four-storey parking structure providing over 120 spaces for visitors and staff.

It also explained that the architectural design of the building will house 68 beds, each room offering a private garden.

This design integrates green spaces throughout the building to foster a serene and welcoming environment for patients and visitors.

Positioning patient rooms on the top three floors maximises the panoramic views, aiding in mental peace and physical recovery, the statement mentioned.

As Limassol continues to grow, AMC Limassol will address the emerging healthcare needs outside the GESY framework, providing a full spectrum of medical services and specialties.

The infrastructure includes a First Aid and Emergency Department, an Intensive Care Unit, five state-of-the-art operating rooms, various support spaces, and a helipad for swift patient evacuation.

Upon opening, AMC Limassol is set to deliver a comprehensive range of medical services.

The facility will provide thorough medical examinations, rapid emergency first aid, both scheduled and unscheduled surgeries, and specialised rehabilitation services for recovery post-injury or surgery.

It will also offer intensive care for critically ill patients, ensure comfortable accommodations in well-appointed hospital rooms, and provide a full spectrum of imaging services including X-rays, CT, and MRI scans.

The infrastructure of AMC Limassol is robust, equipped to handle a diverse array of medical requirements. It includes a First Aid and Emergency Department, an Intensive Care Unit, and five operating rooms, each equipped with the latest medical technology.

Additional facilities such as support spaces and a helipad for immediate patient evacuation emphasise the centre’s readiness for urgent medical scenarios.

In its daily operations, the centre will perform full diagnostic tests and support both elective and emergency surgical procedures.

It will also provide physical rehabilitation services and intensive care for critically ill patients, ensuring comprehensive care continuity.

The facility promises round-the-clock nursing care, continuous patient monitoring, and a 24-hour response capability for medical emergencies.

AMC Limassol is equipped with cutting-edge technology, featuring advanced diagnostic tools such as CT scanners, MRI scanners, and ultrasound equipment.

The centre also includes essential systems for the production, storage, and use of medical gases, alongside water supply storage and sterilisation systems for medical instruments, ensuring the facility operates to the highest standards of healthcare provision.

In conclusion, the development of AMC Limassol represents a significant stride towards providing high-quality, comprehensive medical services in Limassol.
