With the gradual recovery of the global economy, the Cambodian economy in 2025 is expected to continue growing at a rate of 6.3%, indicating a return to pre-COVID-19 growth levels.

This projection was announced during the 45th Central Committee Congress of the 5th Mandate of the Cambodian People’s Party, which was released on the evening of January 26, 2025.

The Congress highlighted the achievements in socio-economic development, showcasing the resilience of the Cambodian economy despite the complex international landscape and various negative factors.

In 2024, the Cambodian economy experienced a growth rate of 6.0%, with low inflation at 0.8%, a stable riel exchange rate of around 4,071 riels per US dollar, and international reserves increasing to $22.511 billion, sufficient to cover approximately seven months of imports. Additionally, the employment situation remained stable.

During a press conference on January 26, Suos Yara, spokesman for the Cambodian People’s Party, emphasized the positive economic indicators.

He said, “On this basis, the living standards of the people have improved, as reflected in the continued increase in the average gross domestic product per capita from $2,520 in 2023 to approximately $2,713 in 2024. Based on the growth in 2024 and the gradual recovery of the global economy, Cambodia is projected to achieve a 6.3% growth rate in 2025, signalling a return to pre-pandemic economic conditions.”
