Cyprus announces €1.3 billion infrastructure investment plan for 2025

President Christodoulides has emphasised that “serving the public interest determines all of our decisions” as he announced the government’s plans to modernise public works legislation and introduce a new electronic system to enhance transparency and efficiency in procedures.

The statement came as he detailed the administration’s firm stance on terminating problematic contracts and addressing delays in public works implementation.

The government’s 2025 infrastructure development plan, valued at more than 1.3 billion euros, encompasses several major projects across the island:

In Nicosia, the next phases of the ring road will proceed with a budget of 120 million euros to improve connectivity. The Akaki-Astromeritis motorway documentation is being finalised, with estimated costs of 107 million euros.

To address traffic congestion in Limassol, projects worth over 250 million euros will be implemented, including the first phase of the Northern Bypass.

Other significant developments include the second phase of the Saittas motorway, estimated at 65 million euros, and the commencement of the Larnaca Port and Marina project in coordination with local authorities.

The Paphos to Polis Chrysochous motorway will be developed as a four-lane highway across both phases, with total costs reaching 330 million euros.

In the Free Famagusta District, infrastructure works valued at 60 million euros will begin, with the Liopetri River project scheduled for completion in summer 2025.

The plan also includes a 50-million-euro expansion of Latsi harbour and the construction of an industrial port at Vasilikos, budgeted at 350 million euros.
