AirAsia Cambodia announces launch of new Siem Reap-Singapore service from November

AirAsia Cambodia is set to spread its wings further by adding a new route from Siem Reap to Singapore from November 9, 2024, according to a press release on Monday.

Nam Vissoth, CEO of AirAsia Cambodia, said that the new route comes in addition to the already announced Siem Reap to Phuket route, also scheduled to begin during the coming winter season.

“Today marks another milestone as we proudly announce our new route between Siem Reap and Singapore,” Vissoth said.

“We have more expansion plans for the Kingdom in the future, providing guests with even more value and choice,” he added.

Singapore marks the start of a number of new destinations the airline is planning to launch soon including the potential direct route linking Phnom Penh to Singapore, Vissoth said.

“We are dedicated to supporting Cambodia’s tourism and economic development goals, in line with the Cambodian government’s vision of establishing more direct flights from major global tourist destinations to the country,” he added.

“These new services will provide a welcome boost to our local economy and tourism sectors, including job creation in the all-important hospitality sector,” he said.

Prak Sophoan, Governor of Siem Reap province, said that Cambodia offers a lot in cultural, historical and natural tourism experiences and the country looks forward to working with AirAsia to connect with more travellers from all over the world.

“This is a significant announcement by AirAsia Cambodia as we work hard to revive our foreign tourism numbers since the pandemic,” Sophoan said.

In the first eight months of 2024, Siem Reap received more than 650,000 international tourists, an increase of 31 percent compared to the same period in 2023, an official report showed recently.
Top visitors include Americans (ranked first), followed by British and French tourists.

According to Siem Reap Provincial Hall, more airlines will add flight service to Siem Reap province in October including Bangkok-Siem Reap and Phuket-Siem Reap.

As one of the world’s leading low cost airlines with a network of over 130 destinations, AirAsia offers an unparalleled global platform to enable access to numerous destinations including a plethora of new hidden gems, with Cambodia being one of the airline group’s core underserved markets.
