PHNOM PENH, June 3, 2024 – Angkor Archeological Park, Cambodia’s premier tourist attraction, has welcomed 472,258 international visitors from January through May this year, marking a substantial 37 percent increase compared to the same period last year, according to a recent report by Angkor Enterprise, the entity responsible for managing the park’s entrance passes.
The revenue from these entrance passes during the first five months has surged by 38.2 percent to reach US$22.2 million, as per the details released on June 1.
Located in Siem Reap province in northwest Cambodia, the 401-square-kilometer park houses 91 historic temples constructed between the 9th and 13th centuries.
Designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1992, Angkor Park remains the top draw for tourists visiting this Southeast Asian nation.
This May alone, Angkor Enterprise reported earnings of US$2.28 million from 50,879 foreign tourists. The pricing structure for park access includes various passes: US$37 for a one-day pass, US$62 for a three-day pass, and US$72 for a week-long pass.
Last year, Angkor Park saw nearly 798,000 foreign visitors, generating over US$37 million in revenue from pass sales, which represented a 222 percent increase from the previous year.
