Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, on Saturday presided over the Annual Environmental Tourism Event 2025 under the theme “Visit Cambodia in the Green Season”, which spans two days and two nights from June 14 to 15, 2025, and marks the 3rd celebration of Cambodia’s Freshwater Sea Festival, expressing gratitude toward Tonle Sap Lake.
This grand community tourism event unfolds in a joyous and harmonious atmosphere, bringing together 17 participating communities to support the “Visit Cambodia in the Green Season” campaign, which aims to promote domestic tourism while enhancing the development of community-based tourism.
Various engaging activities have been organised, including an environmental tourism parade by vehicle and walking, friendly sports competitions between local communities and the Prasat Bakong District Administration, eco-tourism cycling tours, adventure tourism along the shores of Tonle Sap Lake, exhibitions of natural community tourism products, environmental clean-up initiatives, tree planting activities, eco-tourism camping programmes, documentary screenings paying tribute to Tonle Sap Lake, evaluations of green and clean households, traditional lantern floating ceremonies, sky lantern releases, and diverse artistic performances.
This meaningful event was held in Prasat Bakong District, Siem Reap Province, with the participation of Dy Rado, Deputy Governor, representing Prak Sophoan, Governor of Siem Reap Province, along with Ministry of Tourism leadership representatives, district and provincial government officials, Chhay Sivlin, President of the Cambodia Association of Travel Agents, officials from the Siem Reap Tourism and Environment Departments, the director of NGO2 Bamboo Shoot Foundation, Kampong Phluk commune chiefs, village chiefs, and local residents from 17 communities.
