A giant inflatable of “Bong Sangha” – a character from the Angkor Sangkranti – is set to delight onlookers in Phnom Penh at New Years Eve.
The Bong Sangha float is 6.5 meters high, 7 meters long, and 6 meters wide, and has received a lot of attention from the public who have attended the rehearsals for the Cambodian National Day parade.
The giant balloon “Bong Sangha” will be launched 3 meters above the ground, with 20 people holding the ropes during the parade.
“We set it at this height for the safety of the balloon holders. Second, if it is too high and there is strong wind, it can affect the participants and other young volunteers,” said Mr. Virak Vattanak, the coordinator of the giant balloon parade at the Cambodian Celebration event – who added that, because Bong Sangha is large, the team had to be careful when inflating it, and it took more than an hour to inflate it.
