Cambodia and Malaysia further strengthen cooperation in investment and trade

Cambodia and Malaysia discussed strengthening their relationship and increasing cooperation, particularly to attract more Malaysian investment to Cambodia.

Yesterday, Sun Chanthol, the Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia, met with Shaharuddin Onn, the Malaysian Ambassador to Cambodia. They exchanged ideas on strengthening their relations and discussed ways to expand their cooperation. They specifically mentioned attracting more Malaysian investment in the Halal food processing industry.

The Ambassador thanked the Deputy Prime Minister for hosting him and his team. He appreciated the Cambodian government’s efforts to maintain peace, highlighting the ceasefire agreement reached on July 28 in Putrajaya, Malaysia. This demonstrates Cambodia’s commitment to promoting stability and supporting economic development in the region.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the Malaysian government, led by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, for mediating in the border issues between Cambodia and Thailand.

Finally, Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, on behalf of the Cambodian government, endorsed the outcomes of the extraordinary meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Boundary Committee on 7 August in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. BTV News
