Cambodia exported 173,915 tonnes of natural rubber latex in the first seven months of 2024, slightly up by 1.72% from 170,968 tonnes over the same period last year, according to a General Directorate of Rubber’s report on Sunday.
The country earned $269 million in revenue from exports of the commodity during the January-July period this year, up 12.4% from $239.3 million over the same period last year, the report said.
“A tonne of rubber latex on average cost $1,547 during the first seven months of 2024, about $147 higher than that of the same period last year,” Khun Kakada, acting director general of the General Directorate of Rubber, said in the report.
The Southeast Asian nation exports the commodity mainly to Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, and China.
According to the report, Cambodia has planted rubber trees in an area of 407,172 hectares, of which 320,184 hectares of trees, or 78.6%, are old enough to be tapped. Xinhua
