Cambodia Embraces Carbon Neutral Strategy – Environmental Plan

Cambodia has unveiled its Environmental Protection Strategic Plan (EPSP) for 2024-2028, a comprehensive blueprint aimed at addressing pressing environmental challenges, including climate change, deforestation, pollution, and biodiversity loss. The strategy outlines critical measures that will help the country meet its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives, aligning with its long-term goal of carbon neutrality.

This five-year plan emphasizes sustainable development through robust waste management systems, ecosystem restoration, and the promotion of green technologies. As part of the EPSP, Cambodia will also focus on reducing carbon emissions and fostering energy-efficient solutions in key sectors such as agriculture, industry, and transport.

The initiative underscores Cambodia’s commitment to achieving its carbon-neutral strategy by integrating ESG principles into national development frameworks. The EPSP aims to balance economic growth with environmental sustainability, creating a model for green development that supports both people and the planet.

A major component of the plan is the conservation and restoration of ecosystems, which will directly contribute to mitigating climate change impacts. Efforts will also be made to protect biodiversity by enhancing forest conservation and addressing illegal logging activities. Furthermore, the plan includes strengthening environmental governance and increasing public awareness on sustainability practices.

Through this strategic plan, Cambodia is positioning itself as a proactive player in global climate action, making significant strides toward a low-carbon, green economy. The EPSP will not only guide the country’s environmental policy but also enhance its international standing as a nation dedicated to sustainable development and fulfilling ESG commitments. As Cambodia continues to evolve its environmental strategies, the 2024-2028 EPSP represents a pivotal step in the country’s journey toward a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future.
