Cambodia, EU businessmen and investors discuss investment environment

Five key topics related to the investment climate and business operations in Cambodia were discussed during the 2nd Cambodia-Europe Public-Private Sector Dialogue, held on April 7 at the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) headquarters in Phnom Penh.

The event was co-chaired by Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the CDC, and Gabriele Faja, newly elected Chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (EuroCham).

The five priority topics included Transport and logistics, Green economy drivers and regulations, Automotive sector, tax compliance procedures, and infrastructure investment.

In his remarks, Chanthol expressed his appreciation to European Union investors for their continued confidence in Cambodia, as reflected by their growing investments and expanding business operations.

He highlighted the country’s strong investment momentum, citing the record-breaking 414 project approvals in 2024. This achievement, he said, demonstrates the effectiveness of Cambodia’s Investment Law and the Royal Government’s pro-business policies, which view the private sector as a key driver of national economic growth.

Chanthol also spoke highly the successful results of the Investment Roadshow to the European Union in June 2024.

On the European side, participants expressed optimism about the positive outcomes of the second dialogue. They thanked the Royal Government for its responsiveness in addressing the concerns raised during the first dialogue held on September 17, 2024.

Tassilo Brinzer, former Chairman of EuroCham, extended his gratitude to the Royal Government, the CDC, and relevant ministries and institutions for their initiatives and swift action combined with clear technical expertise in resolving key issues under the direct guidance of Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet.
