Cambodia named 5th Friendliest country in the World

Cambodia has been recognised as the fifth friendliest country globally in the Condé Nast Traveller 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards.

With a score of 97.33, Cambodia placed ahead of Vietnam and Thailand, which ranked sixth and eighth with scores of 97.27 and 96.36, respectively.

“As a predominantly Theravada Buddhist country, Cambodia is centred around the concept of ‘metta’, a Pali term roughly translating to unconditional love for all beings. It comes as no surprise then that the Cambodian people greet visitors with universal and heart-warming kindness, regardless of their background,” the Condé Nast Traveller commented.

“The land itself is home to major cities, such as Phnom Penh, the bustling riverfront capital, as well as the magnificent Angkor Wat Temple, renowned for being the world’s largest religious monument. But head to the rural regions to truly get under the skin of the place, where Khmer homestay schemes reveal the rich culture of silk-weaving villages and working farms,” the publication added.

Kenya topped the list of the world’s friendliest countries, scoring 98.46, followed by Barbados (98.18) and Mexico (98.00).
