Prime Minister Hun Manet has reaffirmed that job creation remains a top priority for the Royal Government of Cambodia to drive economic growth nationwide.
The Premier made the remarks during a gathering with civil servants, workers, and employees of the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port in Preah Sihanouk province yesterday, on the occasion of the 139th anniversary of International Labour Day (May 1), held this year under the theme “Together for Decent Work and Sustainable and Resilient Growth.”
He stressed that the government is committed to supporting job creation, improving salaries, and ensuring better welfare for workers and the broader population, key factors in strengthening the national economy.
In his message to his compatriots on Labour Day, Hun Manet outlined the Royal Government’s vision to secure decent employment for all Cambodians and achieve sustainable, resilient economic development.
According to the Prime Minister, as of the first quarter of 2025, Cambodia had 45,225 operational enterprises, providing jobs to 1,846,837 workers.
Additionally, during the same period, the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) registered 172 new investment projects with a total capital of $2.4 billion, which are expected to create approximately 120,000 new jobs.
Meanwhile, the government continued to promote working conditions, labour rights, freedom of labour unions, social security, and other benefits for all Cambodian workers and effectively and fairly address labour disputes. AKP
