Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received a farewell call from Park Jung Wook, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea (ROK) to Cambodia, at the ministry yesterday, upon the conclusion of his diplomatic mission.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, during the farewell meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Sokhonn praised Ambassador Park’s contribution to deepening Cambodia-ROK ties. He highly appreciated the elevation of bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership during Prime Minister Hun Manet’s official visit to the ROK in May 2024 and underlined the possibility of further elevating it to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the future.
The Deputy Prime Minister and the Ambassador underscored the importance of sustained high-level exchanges, especially the National Assembly Speaker Kim Jin-pyo’s visit to Cambodia in September 2023, Samdech Techo President of Senate’s attendance to the World Knowledge Forum in the ROK in September 2024 and President of the National Assembly of Cambodia’s participation in the Universal Peace Federation World Summit 2025 in the ROK in April 2025. Ambassador Park expressed deep gratitude for the close cooperation and excellent coordination extended to him and the ROK Embassy.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted the steady progress of Cambodia-ROK cooperation across trade and investment, defence and security, education, tourism, and labour. He commended the ROK’s contribution to Cambodia’s socio-economic development through ongoing official development assistance (ODA).
He expressed satisfaction with the strengthened people-to-people exchanges and thanked the ROK for its support of Cambodian workers, students, and trainees.
Sokhonn also assured Ambassador Park that his successor would enjoy the same level of cooperation. AKP
