Synopsis: Nearly 75,000 French tourists visited the Kingdom during the first six months of 2025, an increase of 14 percent compared to the same period last year.
Cambodia continues to be a preferred destination for French tourists, with the Kingdom welcoming around 75,000 French visitors during the first six months of 2025, an increase of nearly 14 percent compared to the same period last year, the Ministry of Tourism (MoT) said on Monday.
The update was shared following a reception hosted by the French Embassy in Phnom Penh on Monday evening to mark France’s National Day.
Minister of Tourism Huot Hak attended the event at the invitation of the French Embassy, joined by French Ambassador to Cambodia Jacques Pellet, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn, senior government officials, representatives of ministries, and members of the diplomatic corps.
France’s National Day, celebrated annually on July 14, commemorates the historic storming of the Bastille in 1789, a pivotal moment in the French Revolution.
The event in Phnom Penh reflected the enduring friendship and cooperation between the two countries, which share over a century of historical ties.
In an MoT statement, the event was described as “a reflection of the warm diplomatic relations between Cambodia and France, as well as the strong people-to-people connections that continue to grow”.
According to the Ministry, nearly 100,000 French tourists visited Cambodia in 2024. The uptick in 2025 indicates a steady recovery in European arrivals and highlights France’s role as one of Cambodia’s top European tourism markets.
