Phnom Penh, March 14, 2024: A groundbreaking achievement in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence has been realized by a talented group of Cambodian engineers at the Cambodian Academy of Digital Technology (CADT). They have successfully developed Robocam Sok, the nation’s first robot capable of engaging in verbal and physical interactions in the Khmer language.
During the Cambodia-International Digital Government and Digital Technology Exhibition, Mr. Hoy Seiha, a third-year student and a member of the project team at CADT, revealed that Robocam Sok is not just a marvel of engineering but also a bridge between cultures. It can converse fluently in both Khmer and English, facilitating seamless communication and translation between the two languages.
The creation of Robocam Sok involved integrating advanced technologies such as automatic speech recognition for converting spoken words into text, a sophisticated chatbot system for processing and understanding the text, and a text-to-speech feature enabling the robot to articulate responses in a human-like manner.
The Cambodian Academy of Digital Technology stands at the forefront of digital innovation and education in Cambodia. As a premier national institution, it is committed to fostering the next generation of digital talent and innovators, with the ultimate goal of propelling the country into a digital era. The introduction of Robocam Sok marks a significant milestone in CADT’s journey towards achieving this vision, showcasing Cambodia’s growing capabilities in technology and artificial intelligence on the global stage.
