Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet called on all relevant stakeholders to expand the country’s electric vehicle (EV) charging station network.
Speaking at yesterday’s inauguration ceremony of the new Ford production line and sub-assembly plant in Pursat province, Dr Hun Manet noted the steady rise in electric vehicle usage across Cambodia and emphasised the need to support this growth by increasing access to charging infrastructure.
“I checked Google Maps and found that while many EV charging stations are available in cities, there are still too few along our national roads,” the Premier said. “I encourage the Ministry of Mines and Energy to explore the possibility of establishing more charging stations, as this would further promote the use of electric vehicles.”
According to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Cambodia registered 2,253 EVS in 2024, a remarkable 620 percent increase compared to 2023, when 313 EVS were registered. AKP
